September 2011 Retreat "Letting Go"

The Letting Go III Retreat is the last in the series of Letting Go Retreats, which began in 2005. As “The end of one thing is the beginning of another,” this retreat marks the end of the first 30 years of Heartwork, and the beginning of the next 30! It is a turning – inward – point in the development of Heartwork; actually, to be most accurate, a return to it’s roots. To quote T. S. Eliot, “We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”

Heartwork is a process of "letting go with awareness into the Truth of one's Being-in-the-moment." This process is the essential foundation of Heartwork, through which Heartwork came into existence and continues to evolve. In this retreat, you will be taught the Heartwork tools for letting go, and then you will be given wide open space to find your own way using these tools. The two fundamental instructions for this retreat are: 1. “Watch increasingly closely to see if you are pushing away, fighting against, or running away from anything that is happening in your being in-the-moment, and when you find yourself doing any of these things, stop and let go,” and; 2. “Ask yourself, ‘What do I really need right now?’ And then give it to yourself.” These two processes, combined, allow one to go very deeply into one’s True Nature – that which is not separate from others, nature, God.

Each day, there will be structured opportunities that you are free to take advantage of - or not - depending on what you’re needing at the time:

Three 1-hour meditation periods in the meditation hall
“Unwinding”
Individual guidance sessions with dale
Large group discussion
Inner work in small groups
One 50-minute private session with Dale on days 5, 6, or 7
Evening dance and/or listening to music.

The "Letting Go III Retreat" will be held September 23-30, 2011 at Chapin Mill, the magnificent country retreat site of the Rochester Zen Center, located on 135 acres of beautiful, isolated land, just 35 minutes from the Rochester airport.
